I wonder if we could converse with ants and ask if they had free will if they would respond yes. Ants colonies appear highly regulated and there communicate strongly through pheromones. I wonder if following those pheromone signals elicits a response similar to what dopamine provides in humans. I wonder if this kind of process may explain some of the negative consequences of loneliness and provide explanatory power for the idiosyncratic thinking patterns that may be being detected for those who subjectively are experiencing loneliness.
